Busy weeks have passed

The last couple of weeks have been extremely busy for the Tifossi Fanclub.
We've attended all the Belgian races Daniel participated in and each time we were happy to meet him at the start and sometimes at the finish line.
In a short period we have become known with the riders, staff and followers.

It started with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad where the official Tifossi Banner was shown to the world.
This was indeed the first time we met Daniel and that he signed the banner.

At this moment we were approached by Yves Brokken of wielerverhaal.com who wanted to write an article on this strange phenomenon, a bunch of Belgian guys rooting for an Italian rider.
The race itself didn't go very well for Daniel since he got caught up in a big crash.
Nonetheless it was the start of a great season for Greg Van Avermaet who took the win

Kuurne Brussel Kuurne

The traditional opening weekend in Belgium is Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Sathurday and Kuurne Brussel Kuurne on Sunday.
The Tifossi were there at the start and at the finish to support Daniel

The crash of the day before still got a hold of Daniel and the injuries made him abandon.
Nonetheless Tifossi supported him at the bus and wished him all the best for the coming races.

And this has become the main source of direct info and fun stuff we are doing with the bunch of Belgian fans of Daniel Oss.

Whilst the peleton was riding in Italy for Strade Bianche we got a great cheer from Daniel at the start of this wonderful Tuscan race.

E3 Prijs Harelbeke: The "birth" of the Tifossi Hoodie

The E3-Prijs Harelbeke has been for the past 20 years a yearly tradition of some founding members of Tifossi Belgium.
This year's edition was going to be a special one.
Whilst in the other Belgian races not all founding members of the fanclub could attend this time everybody was there. And we had a present for Daniel.
President Ward had been working on a secret project together with Steven Seynhaeve, the Tifossi Hoodie.

This to promote Daniel Oss even more and make us as Tifossi more visible at the start and along the course.
Off course we had to give Daniel his own hoodie as a present.

We don't know if it was the present or not but Daniel raced incredibly in Harelbeke, finishing not only 20th but led the way to Greg Van Avermaet's victory.
The president was so excited that he raced to the finish line to cheer for Daniel. And much to his surprise Daniel was already wearing the hoodie :-)

Gent Wevelgem

At the start podium the Tifossi cheered so loud for Daniel that master of ceremoniew Michel Wuyts had to interview Daniel.
Michel was surprised to learn that Daniel had fans in Belgium and Daniel said he wants to grab a beer with us someday.

After the start the Tifossi got together with some Italian cycling fans.

Then off to the finish in Wevelgem.
We saw once again an outstanding Daniel Oss riding for Greg Van Avermaet.
Second run for the infamous Kemmelberg Daniel was in front of the peleton keeping the bunch together and laying the path to victory fo BMC.

Afterwards we had the chance to briefly speak to Daniel and congratulate him on the work done and he even took the time to take a picture with the youngest Tifossi.

But even more so some legendary riders were glad to show their support for Tifossi and Daniel Oss

Ronde Van Vlaanderen: Birth of the official Tifossi flag

The biggest race in Belgium with the new start city Antwerp.
The Tifossi were once again at the start and cheered for Daniel and the full team at the bus.
We had brought something new...
The official Tifossi flag.

Meanwhile the banner and hoodie were in the spotlights.
Mentioned during the live broadcast of Sporza radio and a lot of famous Belgian people and even legends were happy to join us in supporting Daniel Oss.

The race was a great spectacle and Daniel once again showed his form, working hard for Greg and his team. Unfortunately a crash prevented a better result. Nonetheless Daniel finished at 61st place in the end result.

Paris Roubaix 

What a race! An outstanding performance of Daniel who worked tremendously hard for the victory of Greg.
Tifossi were there with the full bunch in secteur Carrefour de l'arbre.
Flag and banner motivated Daniel to give the extra push and we yelled Greg towards the victory.

So what's next?
Since now the peleton is moving abroad we are going to keep on rooting for Daniel via social media.
We will keep posting on the facebook page and continue with the blog.
From next week on we will publish articles on the fans we've met from all over the world.

Fans of Daniel all over the world ! 

When we set up the Tifossi Belgium off course we started looking for "common souls". 

To our great surprise we found a facebook group of Daniel's Fans in Japan. 

So weird to see that on the other side of the globe there are common souls. 

In the meantime we have been following the Fanclub in Japan and will pretty soon try to contact the guys and girls behind this facebook group. 

Of course in Italy (home country of Daniel) there is a pretty large crowd following and rooting for Daniel.
We hope to create a big international community in support of Mr Rock 'n Roll of the peleton.

The beloved road race of the Tifossi Belgium
As you might know Daniel finished 10th last year and the year before.
He even got on the podium with the third place in 2013!
We sincerely hope he will have a good race next Friday and hopefully we can celebrate with Daniel.

The birth of the tifossi Blog

4 guys in their 40ies?

One day 4 guys sat around a table and decided to get together from time to time to have fun and a lot of laughs.

4 guys in their 40ies called “Den Osseclub”.

A goal or a mutual interest besides beer and having fun was to be found.

Pretty soon the interest in rock music and cycling led us on a quest for a cyclist who could interest us all 4.

The quest…

Not your average Belgian cyclist. 
No offence but we wanted to have the first and unique Fan Club in Belgium.

So we went looking for someone who didn’t have a fanclub in Belgium but was still fond of racing in Belgium…
A guy who likes cobbles racing and the sturdy racing in Flanders.

A quest that took us a while and finally we found him.

Daniel Oss

Trying to find the perfect match led us to Daniel Oss. 

Professional cyclist and rock 'n roll in every vain in his body. 

A small study of his track record and his bio made the match even more perfect. 

Daniel is an Italian cyclist loving the cobblestones of the north.

Besides that he is a real rock ‘n roll lover.

A bit crazy (like us)

Finding a name

In January of 2017 we came up with a name after contacting Daniel if he would like a Fan Club in Belgium.
Creative brains within the team like wordplay and liguistical jokes and so we came to tifOSSi.
Combining the Italian word for fan “tifosi” with Daniel’s last name.

The baseline “Daniel is van oss” is a Ducth wordplay.

Dutch speaking people will if the read it fast read the word “ons” .

Which in essence means “Daniel is ours” – referring to a soccer song which is chanted a lot on the different pitches.

Our mission 

Support Daniel at the start and during every race in Belgium where he rides. 

You will certainly recognize the banner which goes along everywhere we go.
